AA passenger Othon Cortes claims his chicken meal served to him aboard an American Airlines flight was contaminated with the potentially deadly bacteria Clostridium perfingens. His wife says her 73- year old husband suffered sever stomach pains after the flight landed in NY's JFK Airport.
The couple took a connecting flight to Miami, where he suffered a "cardiac event", causing the plane to divert to Norfolk, Virginia. Cortes was declared dead upon landing.
The Cortes family claims that AA failed to maintain or prepare the food, and waited too long to provide him medical attention, in addition to waiting too long to opt for an emergency landing.
