Attorneys Jeff
Anderson and Greg Meyers filed a lawsuit against the The Citadel, a military
college for not reporting sexual abuse complaints. The lawsuit was made on
behalf of a Mother whose son was a victim of Louis "Skip" ReVille.
Allegedly, in 2002 ReVille began to show the young cadets porn as well as
masturbate with them. Until 2007, it was finally reported to the school what
had or was occurring, the school failed to report the incidents to the police.
The Citadel
failed to correctly handle the sexual abuse complaints made, the mother of the
victim claims that ReVille sexually abused her son on many times between 2007
and 2008. ReVille was the senior camp counsel,a teacher, coach, and church
group leader. ReVille admitted to sexually abusing the boy, the boy was under
the age of 16 when it began. ReVille had met the victim through athletic
activity.
John Rosa, the
president of The Citadel apologized for the schools lack of concern, "We
should have done more," Rosa said. "We know that." The school is
obligated to report any sexual abuse to prevent any more trouble for the school
in the future.
Jeff Anderson is
known for filing the first civil lawsuit against Penn State during the sexual
abuse scandal. Anderson said, "They had a real responsibility
to immediately report this to law enforcement and a real responsibility to take
immediate action to protect other kids," he said. "They failed the
kids in that responsibility."
